In the Quacquarelli Symonds Rankings of Eastern European and Central Asian Universities BME is on the top in several categories.
The leading rating company issued its Emerging Europe and Central Asia (EECA) ranking for the first time in 2014 which includes the evaluation of the first 150 institutions from over 500 universities of 20 countries. On the top of the list the Lomonosov Moscow State University takes place just like last year. The second position is taken by another Russian institution, the Novosibirsk State University and the third is the Charles University in Prague, which gained the silver medal last year.
BME had better results this year with 73.8 points compared to 71.2 last year and this places it to the 32rd position being the 4th best university of the country behind the University of Szeged, Eötvös Loránd University and the University of Debrecen.

The experts evaluated the educational institutions from several aspects including professional involvement and relations. The rankings also examine academic reputation, feedback from the employers, ratio of professors and students, number of professors and researchers with PhD degree, publication activities and citation, ratio of international students and professors and internet presence.
In the field of technology BME is the best university of Hungary; in natural sciences it is the third. In the complete list of educational institutions BME is the 8th and the 21st among Eastern European and Central Asian Universities regarding professional involvement and relations.
Regarding the number of publications BME is on the top of the Hungarian Universities’ list and it is the 4th in the complete list.
When evaluating internet presence BME has the silver medal in Hungary and takes the 14th position among all the universities.
With regards to the feedbacks from employers it is the 3rd best university of the country and the 11th in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
In academic reputation BME is the 5th among Hungarian universities and the 40th in the complete list.
