BME is in the elite category in six subject areas and five out of these six as the top Hungarian university in the rankings of 4300 higher education institutes of the world.
The Budapest University of Technology and Economics could keep its position in the globally renowned rankings of Quacquarelli Symonds. This means that BME is the top Hungarian university in five areas (mechanical engineering, mathematics, computer science & information systems, electronic and electrical engineering, chemistry) while in physics & astronomy BME is the second among Hungarian institutes.
The British company has been publishing its rankings of higher education institutes since 2004. They compile rankings upon four factors: their employer reputation, academic reputation, the citation per paper and the H-index using the Scopus database of Elsevier. This year 4226 universities have been ranked in 15 530 subject areas in 42 fields of education.
In these six subject areas BME is ranked in the ranges of (previous year):

2. Mathematics: 201-250. (201-250.)
3. Computer Science & Information Systems: 251-300. (201-250.)
4. Engineering - Electrical & Electronic: 251-300. (251-300.)
5. Chemistry: 301-350. (251-300.)
6. Physics & Astronomy: 301-350. (301-400).
